We thought it was about time the Trashville site had a new lick of paint and to celebrate the spring clean we thought it would be nice to put this free download album together. The acts contained here represent just a few of the fantastic acts that have played at Trashville Lounge nights over the last 5 or 6 years. I mailed round a bunch of acts and what we’ve ended up with is a compilation that represents the quality, diversity and creative imagination of the kind of acts we’ve been fortunate enough to put on compiled in to an album that sounds so cool and fresh that it’s a real joy to put it up here for you.
Some of these acts you’ll know and others will be new to you but all are worthy of further investigation so please do follow the links and go listen to more of their work – and of course check them out live!
The amazing Sid Griffin (The Long Ryders/Coal Porters) kindly played at our mini festival in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and played a storming set – his ode to Woody seemed very appropriate as I’m pretty sure most of the acts herein have been inspired at one time or another by Mr Guthrie.
Producing The Knoxville Boy album with Knox (The Vibrators) a couple of years back was a brilliant (and hugely fun) experience. Following that we recorded a few acoustic tracks with Knox as The Knoxville Boys which have remained unreleased, so here we have included the Vibrators classic Whips and Furs from that session.
From our nights at The (sadly demised) Cross Kings through to recent nights at The Torriano Bar (and occasional promotions around Herts) we’ve always tried to have a cool mix of bar room country, warped blues, caustic folk and plain weirded out lo-fi and I think the acts here give a pretty good account of that mission.
I hope you enjoy listening as much as we’ve enjoyed compiling!
